Soap Bubble

In 2009 we were asked to produce a short piece of theatre to be taken into lower and middle schools involved in the TaMHS (Targeted Mental Health in Schools) project in Bedford Borough during December 2009 to launch a project aimed at improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children aged 5 - 13, so that's what we did!

The play is about a group of friends, exploring some of the issues children and young people face in their everyday lives that may seem small to adults, but are huge to them: maintaining friendships, fitting in and low-level bullying.

This play is a spin off from the longer performance, Feeling Good (hence the title), which Wooden Hill produced for upper schools in June 2009 on a commission from CAMH.

It takes some of the characters from that show and gives us a glimpse into some of their other issues.

No knowledge of Feeling Good is necessary, the Soap Bubble version
has been written to suit the age groups we are delivering to and comes in a slightly different versions for Middle and Lower schools.

After the performance the older character Ben introduces the others to the audience for questions and to ask for solutions to their problems, this allows the children to get actively involved in
the show and acts as a great kicking off point for further discussion with their teachers back in the classroom.
